Terminator: Dark Fate

This will be the 6th film in the series of the Terminator. In each film, a newly advanced, liquid Terminator is out to destroy the legacy of Sarah Conner. Dark Fate and Salvation are the only films in the series where humans are turned into cyborgs in attempts to efficiently infiltrate the Resistance, compared to their T-800 counterparts. Linda Carroll Hamilton has returned to portray Sarah since her last appearance in Terminator 2. Her last encounter with the Terminator seemed to be a peaceful truce, why would Sarah seem uneasy about it now where she wants it destroyed? Now that the Terminator(Schwarzenegger) has been upgraded to liquid metal, how will it compare to the newer version from the future in this movie? Terminator: Dark Fate hits theatres November 1st!

Sabretooth

Unlike the heroics of Wolverine, Sabretooth‘s thirst for blood is that of a wild savage beast. His mutation altered his physical appearance, giving him features of a carnivorous animal. Out of fear from his unstable parents, Sabretooth suffered a cruel and abusive childhood. Because of this, Sabretooth became a mentally unstable, feral beast that kills mercilessly and brutally for personal satisfaction. His acts of serial killings categorized him as one of Marvel Comics most dangerous villains.

Because of his mutation, Sabretooth is an excellent survivalist. His mutant abilities are similar to the predatory animals of the forest. He can survive in subzero temperatures, track down prey items via super enhanced senses: scent and sight, either day or pitch dark.  Just imagine if humans had these animalistic abilities. We could live efficiently in the wilderness without the worries of fire materials to cook, heating, light and sense of location. Let’s not forget, the healing factor would protect against all potential threats against the body internally or externally, giving humans extended lifespans….

Sabretooth made his live appearances in X-Men and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Many comics fans would agree that Tyler Mane‘s portrayal of Sabretooth was a better choice than Liev Schreiber, mainly due to physical appearance. Sabretooth is known to be physically superior to Wolverine as shown throughout the comics and in the 2000 X-Men film. In X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Sabretooth was overpowered by the adamantium enhanced Wolverine, which brought confusion among comic fans because adamantium always held back Wolverine or Sabretooth’s potential. Which film do you think gave the best portrayal of the feral mutant known as Sabretooth??

Lady Deathstrike

Lady Deathstrike is a combination of adamantium and futuristic robotic cybernetics infused into a trained Japanese assassin. Her father Lord Dark Wind is a brilliant scientist/crime lord responsible for discovering the process of bonding adamantium to human bones. Yuriko’s loyalty to her father is similar to the relationship between Ra’s Al Ghul and Talia. She serves her father or battles against him as she sees fit, eventually taking over the father’s vision of domination.

Wolverine became a primary enemy to Lady Deathstrike because of his adamantium skeleton. The blueprints for fusing adamantium to bone was stolen from Lord Dark Wind in earlier years, then later used on Wolverine in the Weapon X Program. His healing factor was the key to the survival of the procedure, resulting in an indestructible super soldier. This creation Deathstrike felt belonged her family and will kill Wolverine to get that honor back even though she fails many times. Despite the tension between the two characters, it was once believed Yuriko and Wolverine was once in a romantic relationship and even married, but this was merely confused with his relationship with Mariko.

Lady Deathstrike is among Marvel’s least popular villains but was able to make a live action appearance in X2: X-men United. She is a bodyguard assassin to William Stryker, the sergeant responsible for the Weapon X program. Do you think Deathstrike was portrayed well in that film, or could she have a better role in either X-Men Origins: Wolverine or The Wolverine?

Comic fans suggest that Warblade could be more than a match for Lady Deathstrike. They have many concept similarities that make them an interesting battle. But if you compare these characters to the T-1000 vs T-800 bout in Terminator 2, liquid metal is a more powerful killing machine than robotics.

Emma Frost

Emma Frost is one of many mutants who has used their powers for personal gain in the world.  Emma Frost used her powers to make herself wealthy and successful in every area she found interest. Now just think, how many people in the world would do the same as Emma Frost? What would you do? Her beauty and abilities attracted the attention of the X-Men and the Inner Circle of the Hellfire Club. Emma was invited to the X-Men to help understand her power and to protect humans and mutants as a hero. As a member of the Inner Circle, Emma’s powers are utilized as instruments to influence the higher society that controls the world. This is the reason why there is debate that Emma is a hero or villain.

Emma Frost underwent a second mutation, her diamond form. In this form, Emma can only be destroyed with a diamond bullet. When not in diamond form, Emma is a powerful telepath on par with Xavier and Jean Grey. Emma and Jean Grey have tension with each other because both are Omega Level telepaths that fell in love with Cyclops. Not only that both females became worthy hosts to the Phoenix Force.

Emma Frost has come to the movie screen in the movies X-Men Origins: Wolverine and X-Men First Class. Even though her abilities and powers were displayed with unique style and imagery, her timeline was far off. In X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Emma was a young teenager escaping Stryker’s island with an older Professor Xavier (not to mention Xavier is not disabled). In The First Class, Emma was an older woman, battling younger Charles Xavier and younger Eric Lehnsherr. Did movie producers not realize the mistake in Emma Frost movie timeline?

Justice League

The Justice League is a superhero team similar to The Avengers. Their role is to protect Earth and its citizens from domestic and universal threats while representing peace. Like the Avengers, the Justice League has a huge roster of heroes that makes up its organization. Its founding members start with the three icons: Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. Then followed by The Flash, Green Lantern, AquaMan and Martian Manhunter which now is replaced by Cyborg.

The Justice League headquarters is a satellite space station that orbits around Earth, keeping the planet under constant surveillance. Equipped with starships and transporters, the Justice League can face threats with immediate response. These technologies are supplied by Batman, which he stands as the tech genius of the team next to Cyborg. How is it that Batman created technology similarly related to the Star Trek Universe?

DC Entertainment has produced multiple animated films and video games of the Justice League. The Wonder Woman film, Man of Steel, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League are huge movies for DC Entertainment, but can these heroes surpass the success of The Avengers??

Comic Multiverse Fan Favorite Artwork of The Justice League goes to DeviantART artist JPRart. Excellent Work! Definitely reminds fans of the Jim Lee version of the X-MEN.

Joker 2019

The Joker has made a grand appearance each time his character is reimagined in cinema. Joaquin Phoenix will portray the iconic villain, hoping to supersede the last great performance made by Heath Ledger. From the trailer we see there is a dark undertone, giving this film an official R-rating. We don’t see any signs of the Dark Knight in this film, for its suggested that this Joker is intended to launch DC Black, a series of DC-based standalone films. What are your expectations for this film? Do you think this is the ultimate Joker and if this movie succeeds, will this Joker be a part of the new Batman storyline when it arrives? Joker will arrive in theaters October 4th, don’t miss it!

AquaMan 2018 Movie Review!!!

The Justice League film spawned the solo movie for AquaMan with great success! This feature generated $1.150 billion dollars worldwide to date! Zack Snyder introduced the character to the big screen, but it was James Wan brought out the full details of the character. Jason Momoa turned out to be a perfect choice to portray the AquaMan character because Jason and Arthur both originated from people of the water and of the land. The costume designs were perfect for each character because they closely resemble those seen in the comic publications. Some comic fans find the underwater visuals on par with James Cameron’s Avatar. Even though this film used a lot of CGI, it, along with 2017 Wonder Woman, Man of Steel, and the Batman from Christopher Nolan, are the top-ranking origin films for DC Comics. When it comes down to character development on-screen, what fans loved about this film was how producers took time to explain and show visuals of how AquaMan’s powers work, especially during the training with Vulko. Since Aquaman is half human, he is physically stronger than all Atlantians and he has the unique ability to communicate with the animals of the sea. This telepathic ability help prove Arthur’s worthiness to the Trident.  Once wielded, Arthur’s telekinetic abilities expanded, connecting him to the Life Force of the Seven Seas. Even the vast amount Trench creatures came under control of AquaMan, a task believed to be impossible because of their savagery. When making a worldwide connection to sea animals, this visually looks similar to Professor Xavier using Cerebro in the X-Men films. In magic, the Trident is similar to Mjolnir by way of controlling lightning and weather. So, what Trident was Arthur wielding in Justice League if he had his mother’s Trident in his possession before the Trident of Poseidon?AquaMan 2018 would be Mera‘s second appearance on film, her first being cameo in The Justice League. In this film, Mera stuck closely to Arthur, helping him along the way to realize his importance as King of Atlantis, then later becoming his Queen to be. Mera is hydrokinetic like the Water Tribe of Avatar the Airbender. On film, we’ve seen Mera extract water from Arthur’s body, even turn wine into sharp, deadly projectiles. One question that was raised among fans is what was the reason for Mera to create an air bubble to speak to Arthur in Justice League, but never used that technique in this film? Was that a correction the producers wanted to make in concerns to Atlantean communication underwater? Or is this a different in style between Zack Synder and James Wan?

The main antagonist of this film was no other than Orm, Arthur’s half-brother. This family rival is similar to Thor and Loki or T’Challa and N’Jadaka. What’s common with these rivals is that the tensions begin for the rights of the throne. The unworthy King would use deception to become ruler but later become defeated by the rightful heir. Justice League: Throne of Atlantis was similar to this film, with the theme that a new King is needed in the underwater kingdom and to stop an impending war on the surface world. There were key differences in the films, but both were considered great origins stories of the AquaMan. Orm is imprisoned for his crimes but like most popular villains, it’s only a matter of time until he returns…

This film was big enough to feature another of AquaMan’s primary villains, The Black Manta. This Black Manta is quite different from the one in the comics. This film showed Manta as a pirate who has a strong relationship with his father. Arthur allowed Manta’s father die while they were on their hijacking mission, and this started the war between these two characters. In comic publications, during his youth, Black Manta was a victim of human trafficking. While at sea, Manta saw AquaMan and signaled for help to escape his kidnappers, but the King didn’t see this signal. Just as depicted in the comics, Black Manta is Orm’s human soldier who helped set up the stage for Atlantis and the surface to engage in war. Orm shared weapon technology with Manta so he could destroy Arthur but was defeated in the process. End credit scenes predict Manta’s return, but this time he may become a bigger threat than he was before….

What are your thoughts on this film? If we are to receive sequels to this film, how will they be incorporated in any future Justice League films? Rumors suggest Ben Affleck will not have his solo movie for Batman, and Henry Cavill is no longer playing Superman. DC Comics is down to two characters on-screen: Wonder Woman and AquaMan. Let’s hope the Shazam movie is just as outstanding as AquaMan 2018 to keep DC cinematic universe alive for the comic fans. Also make sure to Check out these amazing statues provided by SideShow Collectibles!!

Wonder Woman 2017

DC Comics is at a good pace creating feature films for their iconic characters. This 2017 feature of Wonder Woman will be the first major female role in the comic universe and she will be the second member of the Justice League to bring a new visual of her history on-screen. The costume design and visual effects created for Woman Woman will bring this character to life, really portraying to the audience how she is a valuable hero and how she measures equally with her male companions. From the preview we see how the Amazons are separated from the world conflicts on the secret island of Themiscyra. In the Justice League trailer, the Amazon warriors are at battle with what could be Darkseid’s legion of Parademons. Will these two movies tie in with one another in some way? Are the Amazons, one of the sole keepers of a Mother Box? Just like in her comic book history, Diana will choose to enter man’s world, putting her training to use fighting for,, well on June 2nd, we will see the details of the conflict!

Loki vs Dr. Doom

The Asgardian Frost Giant Prince vs The Ruler of Latveria is a topic of speculation among comic fans. These two villains are matched up because first they both have a desire to obtain rulership of Asgard and the power it contains. Dr. Doom is looked like the supreme mortal who can outwit and obtain powers from cosmic beings or sources. Loki is a lower-level god who is only successful in dominating beings who are mentally and physically weaker than himself. In this case, the bridge between Loki and Dr. Doom is relatively small….

Dr. Doom’s greatest power is his mind. Since his youth, he desired to acquire knowledge and power for himself, and he succeeded. Dr. Doom is considered to be one of the most powerful minds in the Marvel Universe. As such, he can create any device needed to give himself the upper hand in any situation, even to rival the technical genius of Batman, Iron Man and Reed Richards. Throughout the comics, Dr. Doom’s taste for power has been taken to extraordinary heights: becoming wielder of the Infinity Gauntlets and taking on cosmos powers such as Galactus and Silver Surfer. Dr. Doom’s downfall lies with attaining too much power. His arrogance blinds him creating more setbacks than failures.Loki is also known to have a genius level intellect as well as being a master sorcerer in his realm of Asgard. Since Loki is of Asgard and The Frost Giants, he is physically superior to Dr. Doom. Loki has a desire to acquire more power like Dr. Doom, but his child like manner wouldn’t allow him to have a defined purpose for his power other than challenging his half-brother Thor. This results in his defeat and punishment by his father Odin. Loki’s arrogance as a higher being blinds the fact that mere mortals could beat him at his own game every time.

In this battle, Loki is more than likely to underestimate the power of Dr. Doom because he is mortal. Dr. Doom is a strategist and mentally would dominate Loki. If need be, could take over the body Loki, if physically beaten. With the battle history of the two villains, you would likely find a DoomBot in battle than the real Doom. Loki more than likely control a being such as the Destroyer to fight the battle for him or even the Hulk. Who do you think would win in such a battle?

Red Lantern Corps: Dark Phoenix

What if…….Atrocitus was able to recruit the Dark Phoenix to his Red Lantern Corps?! The Phoenix Force is an entity described as the child of the universe, free-spirited and dangerous if not properly controlled or guided on the right path. With this power, Atrocitus could be on the same power levels as the White and Black Lantern Corps

Atrocitus believes he could attract the Phoenix Force to his will by releasing The Butcher.  An older entity could train the younger entity on how powerful an emotion like rage is. This is a similar method Atrocitus learned from observing Sith Lords before recruiting them. To achieve his plan, Atrocitus traveled to the time period in the Marvel Universe right after Dark Phoenix consumed a star, killing billions of people in the process. The destruction left in the aftermath fascinated Atrocitus, believing that such devastation could empower his Lantern Corps greatly. Atrocitus intercepted the Phoenix in space flight, releasing the Butcher from the Red Power Battery. The two entities clashed in a cosmic spectacle, becoming familiar with each other, learning and adapting to one another.

As the two entities dance in a cosmic showcase, Jean Grey’s body hovers in space, waiting for the Phoenix Force to return to its host.  Atrocitus used this time to slip the Red Power Ring onto Jean’s finger, sealing the bond between the two entities. Doing this, Atrocitus believed if he can’t have direct control over the Phoenix Force, he could at least have control over its host.

Sensing bondage, the Phoenix Force lashed wildly like an animal being caged. Anger and rage began to grow rapidly in the entity as it struggled. The energy given off by the Phoenix Force was so tremendous, its power funneled down to each power ring of the Red Lantern Corps. Members of the Red Lantern Corps no longer had the weakness of blind rage, now that it was consumed by the Phoenix Force. In exchange, each member developed mental clarity strong enough to create the most powerful constructs among all the other Lantern Corps. The Phoenix Force also grants members immortality, as long as the Phoenix Force remains confined in the Red Power Battery.

Also, there is no longer the need to charge the power ring, for the Phoenix Force keeps the rings charged indefinitely. When realizing that rage is just one of many emotions of the Spectrum, The Phoenix Force gained a curiosity for the other Lantern Corps and vowed to conquer them all. With the power of two cosmic entities, can the Red Lantern Corps be stopped in their quest for domination of the Universe?
