The Batman Movie Review!!!

DC Comics presents the 6th incarnation of The Batman, with Robert Pattinson taking the role of the Dark Knight. To date this film grossed $771 million worldwide from a budget of $200 million, quickly bringing a sequel in the works. The cinematography gives the same feeling as the movie Joker, displaying the dark and gritty side of Gotham City. With James Gunn as the new Co-chairman and Co-Ceo of Dc Comics, will this version of Batman be able to become a three-movie series like the Christopher Nolan Batman?

This is a young Batman two years in the making and is not looked upon as a hero just yet. The Batcave is in an abandon subway station under Wayne Tower, his tech is in development and limited. The bat suit is a working progress but very effective in its early stages.  The suit is able to stop high caliber bullets, survive explosions and can form into a wingsuit allowing Batman to glide thru the city’s skyscrapers. The Gotham Police Department frowns upon Jim Gordon, portrayed by Jeffrey Wright, for considering Batman as an ally and allowing him to interfere in police investigations. The history of Bruce Wayne’s parents is different from what we know from the comics and movie adaptations. Thomas Wayne was associated with the crime boss Carmine Falcone after saving his life and Martha Wayne was mentally ill, even being a patient of Arkham Hospital.

Zoe Kravitz is the 4th actress to play Gotham City’s cat burglar and the third to be of African American decent to portray the character. In this film Selina is the daughter of the crime boss Carmine Falcone and works in the gritty Iceberg Club. Selina’s friend became mixed up with Gotham’s underworld, prompting Selina to protect her at all costs.  Selina later joins Batman in his crusade to bring the corrupt to justice before leaving Gotham City behind.

Colin Ferrell is the Penguin in this film with excellent performance. There were many changes from the first Penguin in Batman Returns played by Danny DeVito. Tim Burton made his Penguin closely related to the one in the comics, a man living in the sewers with a bird appearance and custom weapons concealed in umbrellas. The Penguin created by Matt Reeves runs the Iceberg Club seemingly as a legitimate businessman but also is associated with some of Gotham’s powerful upper class in illegal activities. With the success of this film, HBO Max has allotted the character to have his own spin-off series just like they did for the PeaceMaker.

This Riddler brought suspense to the film with his serial killings similar to Jigsaw. His murders were puzzles for Batman specifically to figure out while bringing fear to the upper class and police department of Gotham. He believed he is bringing justice to the city like Batman even though his methods are brutal. The Riddler was portrayed by Paul Dano and Jim Carrey played the character previously in Batman Forever. Carrey’s Riddler was based around the actor’s comical persona on films and television.

What was your overall impression of The Batman by Matt Reeves? Does this film measure up to the previous Batmen or do you think it fell short of expectations? Leave your thoughts below and check out SideShow Collectables for The Batman’s statues!

2019 Captain Marvel Movie Review!!

In the ending credits of Avengers: Infinity War, Nick Fury realized the Earth was in danger and The Avengers were not available to face this threat. Nick sent out a signal to Captain Marvel, a new hero fans have yet to see on-screen. 2019 Captain Marvel grossed over $550 million dollar so far, overshadowing any doubt that Captain Marvel will perform well among the latest Marvel releases. Was Captain Marvel everything you expected?

Carol Danvers is a part of the StarForce, a team which is similar to the Nova Corps in the MCU. In fact, The Nova Empire and the Kree Empire have a peace treaty with one another, which created an uproar among many. We get to see this how life was during this treaty and the conflict it created with the help of the cameo appearances from Ronan the Accuser and Korath the Pursuer. Their appearance in this film help express their importance in the Guardians of the Galaxy film. Why do you think Captain Marvel is used in the cinematic universe instead of Nova, when Nova was in the original story when Earth heroes fought Thanos for the Gauntlet? What of Adam Warlock? Adam was mentioned at the end credits of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol2. He had a major playing part in the fight against Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet. Will he make an appearance in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame film?

The Skrulls made an appearance in this film, but their début was not as expected. Known as a villainous, devious warrior race in the comics, this version of the Skrulls turned out to be the victims of the Kree Empire. Mar-Vell was responsible for creating an engine which has lightspeed capabilities, an engine to help the remaining Skrulls evade the war and find a new home far away in the cosmos. Mar-Vell was killed for her secret project and the power core it has, which turned out to be the Tesseract. The likeness of Mar-Vell was then taken to become the Supreme Intelligence of the Kree, and this is where Carol uncovered the Kree’s true intentions which were completely hostile. In the comics, Mar-Vell was a male warrior and was known as Captain Marvel for quite some time in comic publications before changing that role to a female. Do you think it the change for Mar-Vell was just or was it nothing more than an unnecessary change producers made to the comic story?

The Stones that power the Gauntlet are from cosmic origins and they ultimately control the fundamentals of the universe. In the comic story, Thor was the strongest Avenger to battle Thanos. In the cinematic universe, Thor’s powers have doubled when fighting against his sister Hela, then increasing to greater heights after receiving Stormbreaker. Stormbreaker was specially designed by Eitri to combat the controlling power of the Gauntlet. This means that the full might of these weapons is determined by the will of the wielder. Are producers trying to convey that Captain Marvel could be perhaps stronger than Thor in the upcoming Endgame or will she just become another team player? Avengers Endgame will release April 26, 2019, answering all questions on where this story of the Infinity Gauntlet could be headedRelated image
What were your thoughts on Captain Marvel? Do you think she measures up to the universal threat laid before the Avengers?

Dragonball Super: Broly

Akira Toriyama is back with his third anime film Dragonball Super: Broly! Dragonball Super: Broly is the highest-ranking film created around the Z Fighters and this film is a retold story of Broly and Bardock. This story takes place after the Tournament of Power, Goku and Vegeta are at new levels of power and are unaware there is another fighter in their own universe that is strong enough to challenge their refined saiyan God powers……

Broly of the non-canon story, grew up hating Goku because of the internal memory of Goku constantly crying in the saiyan nursery. Broly’s power was so great, it had an adverse effect on his personality and mental stability growing up. Paragus grew fearful of his son to the extent of controlling the saiyan through artificial means. This control later turned on Paragus in the form of hatred, thus losing his life to his son. In the canon story, Broly grew up with a dislike for Vegeta, which was trained in him by Paragus. Just like the non-canon version of Broly, King Vegeta didn’t accept Broly’s extraordinary power because the child was labeled as a lower class saiyan and Broly’s power challenged all those of royal blood. Broly and his father were exiled from the planet instead of going through a failed execution attempt. Paragus vowed to take revenge on the King for his oversight, with the extinction of the saiyan race, Vegeta was the next best option for revenge since Vegeta is the survivor of the Saiyan throne. The story of Bardock was retold as well, thus making Goku’s origin to Earth even more like Superman. In Bardock’s story, fans were also introduced to Goku’s mother Gine, a character never expressed in history until this movie.

Dragonball Super: Broly satisfied fans this time around with visuals of Vegeta as the super saiyan God. This form was introduced in the film Dragonball Z Battle of the Gods, which was a form attained by absorbing the power of 5 pure hearted saiyans. This is important among DBZ fans because this was the second time Vegeta was observed catching up to Goku in power but not displaying his work to attain each level as Goku did. Then the stage moved to Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan, otherwise known as Super Saiyan Blue. Vegeta amazed fans becoming super saiyan blue in the Resurrection of Frieza, completely skipping over the super saiyan God level. Then Vegeta learned to evolve the super saiyan blue form into a new power level. Dragonball Super Broly has also made Gogeta an official character in the canon series. Not only that, Gogeta is able to become super saiyan God just like his fusion counterpart Vegito. Fusion is an extremely powerful card to play on the battlefield and it was surprising to fans that Broly could withstand the power of the fusion before Gogeta went Blue. If this is the case, would Broly be in fact stronger than all the saiyans in the Tournament of Power?

Comic sites have theories on how the Super Saiyan Four could become canon. Sites such as Comicbookmovie suggest that the road map to Super Saiyan Four is through Broly.  Whis, being a witness to the entire battle, could give Goku and Vegeta new training methods to fully bring out their saiyan potential as Broly did. So far, Whis trained the Vegeta and Goku to master their ki to God levels but never taught the saiyans how to unlock the power aspects their race could wield. Or is it possible Whis already knows the full potential of the saiyan race and could show the saiyans how to use the legendary stage as well…

Even with Broly eliminated in the non-canon Dragonball Z story, that was something anime fans could not accept for the character. Dragonball Super gave fans the idea of Broly with the introduction of Kale. Her outstanding power amazed the Gods in the tournament, and she was ranked among the top 5 strongest fighters. During the seasons of Super, fans can see that Goku, Vegeta, Caulifla and Cabba has similarities that make them parallel with each other.  Now that Broly is made canon, will he apart of surviving saiyans, even becoming a mentor with his parallel counterpart Kale? What was your overall feel for this movie? Do you think this Broly is the best we have seen, or do you think his previous version was better left untouched?

ComicMultiverse fan favorite poster of Dragonball Super: Broly goes to the DeviantArt artist: Limandao! Excellent work!

The Flash Movie Review!!!!

The Flash made way to the theatres grossing $271.4 million dollars to date. This anticipated film had a slow start in the box office before taking in a little past its budget. There were mixed reviews from critics and comic fans alike on why this film didn’t become a smash hit as expected. Could it be because of the negative controversy surrounding Ezra Miller or did comic fans want the plot closely related to Flashpoint comic series? Or maybe, the reason is because of James Gunn‘s decision to eliminate the SynderVerse and reboot the DC Cinematic Universe to his image. Every new variation of DC characters was excellent until now. Can James Gunn measure up to those before him with his abrupt stop of the Synderverse and its actors?

Ezra Miller returns as the Scarlet Speedster with an upgraded costume and newfound ability to travel back in time via the Speed Force. Since the Justice League movie, Batman holds Barry with special importance as if he was a new version of Robin. In the mist of correcting the death of his mother, Barry ultimately creates the Dark Flash who is the future version of himself still attempting to correct timeline mistakes. Dark Flash is not to be confused with Reverse Flash as most fans would assume, especially since this film loosely based upon the Flashpoint comics. Instead, Dark Flash is similar to Black Flash, an entity created from the Speed Force itself to prevent any threat that may enter or manipulate the void. This could be identified in the scene when Dark Flash knocks Barry out the Speed Force dimension.

The sequence of Batfleck is the last amazing cinematography of the character under the vision of Zack Synder. In every feature or cameo made of Batman, his costume changed due to the circumstance of his situation. In this movie, like Adam West, Batfleck not only battled crime in broad daylight but also sported the classic blue, grey and gold attire. This colored armor is used for motorcycle function, able to withstand high speed road rash and collision. Supposedly, there was to be an after-credit scene of Batfleck but was later scraped due to James Gunn reboot of the DC Universe. Was this scene possibly staging the second Justice League movie or even Batfleck’s solo movie series?

Micheal Keaton has returned as the Dark Knight once again after 31 years! Keaton’s actions sequences as Batman are on par if not better than his first two appearances! What would have made the film more personal during the first moments of Keaton was having a portrait of Alfred Pennyworth in the mansion and an explanation on how Bruce handled his death, as his last family member. Another cool concept to see was visual flashbacks on how Gotham has changed for the better since Batman Returns and even the whereabouts of Selina Kyle. Like Batfleck, Keaton also has the classic grey blue and gold costume in his arsenal. Do you think Keaton should have worn the classic suit for this film? Most comic fans believe Michael Keaton is cinema’s favorite Batman followed by Christian Bale. Michael’s Batman was the first cinematically to show that Batman’s cape functions as a tool instead of being the suit’s design. Both Bale and Keaton displayed Batman in flight that we always wanted to see. The gliding function of the cape substituted the comic version of Batman grappling and swinging from rooftop to rooftop like Spiderman.

In the Flashpoint comic series, Superman was the one captured by the US military when crash landing to Earth as a child. In this film Kara Zor El took on that role, but instead of being in US custody, she was discovered and held prisoner by the Russians, like the Red Son Superman. Supergirl was portrayed by actress Sasha Calle, who is of Colombian decent. Because of this, it brought mixed feelings among comic fans because of what they are used to from comic blueprints and live action sequences from television series.  Do you think Sasha Calle was a good fit for the part or if not, who would have been a better choice? Barry’s ethnicity was also altered when his mother was portrayed with Latin decent. Are ethnic changes a new avenue for the cinematic universe than the comic blueprints? Michael Shannon‘s role as General Zod was revived as well, on the hunt for the Codex to rebuild Krypton. Unlike Man of Steel, Supergirl was the carrier of the genetic material even though it was never explained how she obtained it before Krypton’s destruction.

The Flash Batman GIF - Batman GIFs

Overall, the film was great visually but could have used more creative depth in the story to be closely on par with the Flashpoint Paradox and being that this and AquaMan 2 is the last of the SynderVerse. AquaMan 2018 Movie Review!!!

The Justice League film spawned the solo movie for AquaMan with great success! This feature generated $1.150 billion dollars worldwide to date! Zack Snyder introduced the character to the big screen, but it was James Wan brought out the full details of the character. Jason Momoa turned out to be a perfect choice to portray the AquaMan character because Jason and Arthur both originated from people of the water and of the land. The costume designs were perfect for each character because they closely resemble those seen in the comic publications. Some comic fans find the underwater visuals on par with James Cameron’s Avatar. Even though this film used a lot of CGI, it, along with 2017 Wonder Woman, Man of Steel, and the Batman from Christopher Nolan, are the top-ranking origin films for DC Comics. When it comes down to character development on-screen, what fans loved about this film was how producers took time to explain and show visuals of how AquaMan’s powers work, especially during the training with Vulko. Since Aquaman is half human, he is physically stronger than all Atlantians and he has the unique ability to communicate with the animals of the sea. This telepathic ability help prove Arthur’s worthiness to the Trident.  Once wielded, Arthur’s telekinetic abilities expanded, connecting him to the Life Force of the Seven Seas. Even the vast amount Trench creatures came under control of AquaMan, a task believed to be impossible because of their savagery. When making a worldwide connection to sea animals, this visually looks similar to Professor Xavier using Cerebro in the X-Men films. In magic, the Trident is similar to Mjolnir by way of controlling lightning and weather. So, what Trident was Arthur wielding in Justice League if he had his mother’s Trident in his possession before the Trident of Poseidon?AquaMan 2018 would be Mera‘s second appearance on film, her first being cameo in The Justice League. In this film, Mera stuck closely to Arthur, helping him along the way to realize his importance as King of Atlantis, then later becoming his Queen to be. Mera is hydrokinetic like the Water Tribe of Avatar the Airbender. On film, we’ve seen Mera extract water from Arthur’s body, even turn wine into sharp, deadly projectiles. One question that was raised among fans is what was the reason for Mera to create an air bubble to speak to Arthur in Justice League, but never used that technique in this film? Was that a correction the producers wanted to make in concerns to Atlantean communication underwater? Or is this a different in style between Zack Synder and James Wan?

The main antagonist of this film was no other than Orm, Arthur’s half-brother. This family rival is similar to Thor and Loki or T’Challa and N’Jadaka. What’s common with these rivals is that the tensions begin for the rights of the throne. The unworthy King would use deception to become ruler but later become defeated by the rightful heir. Justice League: Throne of Atlantis was similar to this film, with the theme that a new King is needed in the underwater kingdom and to stop an impending war on the surface world. There were key differences in the films, but both were considered great origins stories of the AquaMan. Orm is imprisoned for his crimes but like most popular villains, it’s only a matter of time until he returns…

This film was big enough to feature another of AquaMan’s primary villains, The Black Manta. This Black Manta is quite different from the one in the comics. This film showed Manta as a pirate who has a strong relationship with his father. Arthur allowed Manta’s father die while they were on their hijacking mission, and this started the war between these two characters. In comic publications, during his youth, Black Manta was a victim of human trafficking. While at sea, Manta saw AquaMan and signaled for help to escape his kidnappers, but the King didn’t see this signal. Just as depicted in the comics, Black Manta is Orm’s human soldier who helped set up the stage for Atlantis and the surface to engage in war. Orm shared weapon technology with Manta so he could destroy Arthur but was defeated in the process. End credit scenes predict Manta’s return, but this time he may become a bigger threat than he was before….

What are your thoughts on this film? If we are to receive sequels to this film, how will they be incorporated in any future Justice League films? Rumors suggest Ben Affleck will not have his solo movie for Batman, and Henry Cavill is no longer playing Superman. DC Comics is down to two characters on-screen: Wonder Woman and AquaMan. Let’s hope the Shazam movie is just as outstanding as AquaMan 2018 to keep DC cinematic universe alive for the comic fans. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Movie Review!!!!

Marvel Comics received another win with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever! To date this film generated $859.1 million dollars from a budget of $250 million. Ryan Coogler didn’t recast the Black Panther, so this movie was based around Wakanda’s survival after the death of the King from an unspecified illness. In reality, Chadwick Boseman was diagnosed with colon cancer during his first appearance as Black Panther and began undergoing its effects throughout all movie appearances of the character up to Endgame.

The villain chosen for this movie was Namor The Sub Mariner. Namor as we know is very similar to AquaMan in the DC Universe. Both are half Atlantean, with the ability to survive the depths of the oceans and communicate with marine animals. Their primary differences lie within their human parents and the Tridents they wield. Namor’s father has the dormant X gene which creates Namor as half homo superior, explaining his winged feet and ability to fly. Flight is what would give Namor an advantage over AquaMan in battle, but it’s AquaMan Trident of Poseidon and the ability to tap into the Life Force of the oceans that may give AquaMan the win in this matchup. Who is your favorite underwater King between the two?

Namor is introduced cinematically different from the comic origins. Wakanda believed that Vibranium only landed in their country, now to find out the precious metal has also landed in the ocean near the MesoAmerican Region. Over time the meteorite’s radiation gave nourishment to underwater plants, which were consumed by the last Mayan tribe in that area. Namor’s mother was pregnant when she ingested it, causing Namor’s mutation of winged ankles and flight. As for the tribespeople, out of water their pigmentation turns blue from lack of oxygen where when immersed in water, the saturation returns to normal human coloration. Namor and his people have the ability of hypnosis, very similar to mermaids and sirens, sending anyone within earshot to a watery grave. Instead of wielding the magical Trident of Neptune, Namor wields a spear made of pure Vibranium. Without the magical powers of a Trident, do you think this version of Namor can take on Jason Momoa’s AquaMan? Did the director want Namor changed to give the minorities of our society a representation cinematically or was Africans, Latins and Hispanics cultures being displayed as one in the same since Pangaea? This concept was also presented in AVP when explaining cultures with pyramid structures.

Shuri becomes the Black Panther as she does in the comics. Since she failed save her brother’s life and the world’s continual efforts to invade Wakanda for Vibranium, Shuri’s feelings towards society turns negative. After interacting and learning the creation of Talokan, Shuri was able to create a new crop of the heart shaped herb since its destruction by Killmonger’s order. This new herb grants the user a greater healing factor similar to Wolverine’s. This was witnessed from the invulnerable warriors of Talokan and Shuri surviving a stab wound to the midsection, same trauma that took Killmonger’s life. It’s unclear if the herb allows underwater breathing, but if this herb was discovered earlier, T’Challa and Killmonger would have survived their afflictions. Even though Shuri was coaxed into a negative mindset, fueled even more so by the death of the Queen, Shuri used the wisdom of the Black Panther legacy to join the two Vibranium richen nations together as partners…or it seems. Namora was introduced in this film as well and she appears unpleased with Namor’s decision for unity. Do you think this is the beginning of a division within the Talokan nation?

How did you like this film?! What do you think of the changes made to character of Namor? Leave your comments below and check out SideShow Collectibles for Wakanda Forever!

Deadpool 2 Movie Review!!!

Deadpool is back again! The first film’s huge success quickly ushered the second feature, which grossed $785 million to date. The cinematic version of Deadpool is displayed as a spoof movie or a parody to the Marvel films and is closely related to the X-Men franchise. Deadpool still struggles to fight justice in a civil fashion like most heroes. His humorous punch lines and graphic action sequences help draw in big audiences for an R-rated Marvel Film since the Blade movies and Logan.

What was your take on Josh Brolin playing Cable? Cable coming to the big screen is a great look for the X-Men series, but there were some powers and abilities about Cable that were not explored, which could have made this character just as good as the portrayal of Thanos. For instance, like his mother Jean Grey, Cable is an Omega Level mutant with the power of telepathy and telekinesis. His telekinetic powers seem more remotely used by his cybernetic eye, which in the comics was more used to detect psionic energy. With the heavy use of telekinesis and telepathy in this film, Cable would be mistaken for a Force User! Also, Cable is able to call force fields and make use of his time traveling device, but we missed the use of his teleportation mechanism. In the comics, Deadpool makes use of the teleportation gadget where in the movie he uses the time device as his own. This is just one of many things that confused the depiction of Deadpool on-screen. It could also be the reason in the ending credits, Deadpool enters X-Men Origins: Wolverine and kills that version of Deadpool. In DP2, Cable’s mission is to destroy the mutant Firefist before he kills Cable’s family in the future.

In Marvel Comics, X-Force is a team that was created by Cable in efforts to take down mutant terrorists around the world. In Deadpool 2, Wade was responsible for creating X-Force in hopes of saving Firefist from prison and Cable. Much of Deadpool’s recruits didn’t survive and what was left of X-Force eventually consisted of Cable, Deadpool, and Domino. Her feature on this film was excellent and the display of her mutant powers as a luck charm was interesting to see. Question is, if Domino can dominate luck into her favor, wouldn’t she be more deadly than Deadpool and Cable? Wouldn’t she also a difficult target to eliminate?

Colossus, Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Yukio return to aid Wade in his action-packed adventures. A version of Yukio is featured in The Wolverine, which was a character that was heavily mentioned in both films. Yukio in The Wolverine was able to sense impending death on an individual and in DP2 she can wield electricity. Even though Hugh Jackman states that he’s done playing Wolverine, wouldn’t it be cool for him to play the role once more for either possibly the next Deadpool or an Avengers feature? There were other X-Men cameos in this film such as Beast, Cyclops, Quicksilver and Professor Xavier. All characters we’ve seen in the other X-Men movies, Negasonic Teenage Warhead would be a new addition, but why was Colossus created different from his earlier version in X2 and Days of Future Past? Why was this Colossus always in his organic steel form where in the other films, the character was in his relaxed human form, especially in the X-Mansion where no danger was present?

What is your take on the film? Do you think it measures up to the first film or it was completely better? It’s not confirmed whether or not a 3rd film will be made, or X-Force will be the next installment to the X-Men franchise. If Wade returns, who do you think should be in it?

Venom Movie Review!!!

Venom 2018 has exceeded expectations bringing in over $856.1 million dollars to date! Many popular movie critics gave Venom negative reviews, mainly because origins of the character was altered for cinematic display. Despite the alterations, Venom is an action-packed film and Tom Hardy‘s performance as Eddie Brock was nothing less than perfect. Let’s break down the different aspects of this film that stood out to comic fans the most and what could happen for this film in the future…

According to the comic blueprint when the Venom symbiote arrived on Earth, Spiderman was its first host. What the symbiote fed on the most with Peter was the special abilities he gained from the radioactive spider. The Venom symbiote retained Spiderman’s abilities and costume design by the time it attached to Eddie Brock. The Venom symbiote incorporated Brock’s deep negative feelings toward Spiderman making them it’s own. Brock had a obsession to take down Spiderman, for he blamed Spiderman for the lost of his job and the end of his relationship with his girlfriend. In turn, Spiderman and Venom are always at odds, even though in rare occasions they would join forces. In the movie release of Venom, Eddie lost his job and girlfriend by overstepping boundaries when interviewing the Life Foundation CEO Carlton Drake. Eddie was determined that Drake was guilty of his accusations of human experimentation and was willing to do what it took to prove his story. This film featured other symbiotes such as Riot, who’s mission was to bring more of its species to Earth. Is it possible the symbiotes were fleeing their planet because it was near destruction by Galactus like in the comics? With eliminating Spiderman from the film origins of Venom, do you think that ruined Venom’s chances to encounter the wall crawler in future films? Would this version of Venom been a great new villain for The Amazing Spiderman film series or was this standalone film a good move for Sony?

Venom was featured as the main villain in Spiderman 3. This storyline of Venom was slightly changed as well. The Venom symbiote arrived on Earth through a small meteor and not from the shuttle return as shown in the comics and Venom 2018. In the comic story, the symbiote attached to Peter Parker becoming the black suit Spiderman. Peter discovered the suit enhanced his abilities and even began to turn his personality into a darker side. This began to jeopardize his relationships at work and with Mary Jane so Peter expelled the symbiote, thus making Eddie the new host. Once Eddie gained the symbiote, it became a creature not seen with Spiderman. The Venom symbiote was short lived in Spiderman 3, as it was disintegrated along with Eddie Brock. What threw the appearance off with Venom was that his size was comparable Spiderman, not making him much of a threaten menace. In Venom 2018, Venom was almost triple the size of Brock, easily towering over most humans. Since Eddie encounter the symbiote first, Venom was without his famous white spider across his torso and back. Venom was unable to cling to walls like Spiderman or create webbing, so the unique powers of the symbiote made up for the missing elements. Venom was seemingly destroyed like in the Spiderman 3 film, but returned to Eddie to help combat crime in his town. Another notable difference between the two cinematic Venoms was that the new version has a personality of its own while the other was a mindless creature under control of Eddie.

At the end of film, Eddie arrives at a prison facility to interview Cletus Kasady, an infamous serial killer who is portrayed by Woody Harrelson. Cletus lets Eddie know that when he gets out of prison there will be carnage. This hints that the murderous Carnage will be the next villain that Venom must face. What if Venom’s apparent destruction is what forces the symbiotes’ pregnancy in hopes to survive extinction? What if in this Venom story, Carnage and Venoms indifference stems from the passed down knowledge of Riot’s death and the disruption of the mission to invade Earth with symbiotes? What were your thoughts on 2018 film for Venom? Should producers continue with this storyline or will this movie become short lived?

Avengers: Infinity War Movie Review!

Marvel Comics has released its grand film Avengers: Infinity War!! In the first weekend, Avengers generated $630 million dollars, a number which would be expected after the big release of Black Panther. Marvel has grown consistently with its characters, resulting in them being brought together to save the universe against the galactic tyrant Thanos. Infinity War is a story where the heroes die and the villain wins. This brought huge interest on who survived because those characters will be the ones who will bring Thanos down and revive the universe.

Thanos has been traveling the universe looking for the Infinity Stones. What motivated Thanos to rid half the universe of its population was the destruction of Titan. From this experience, Thanos believed it was his duty to balance the universe at any cost. Thanos had a gauntlet constructed that could contain and control the powers of the Infinity Stones. Thanos tortured and killed to get the stones and was almost stripped of his power. The character of Thanos seems more passionate on film than in the comics. In the Infinity War events, Thanos was driven by his lust for death and mayhem and most importantly win the heart of Mistress Death. In the Infinity War film, through all the death and destruction, Thanos really wanted the divine power to create universal balance. In a certain point of view, Infinity War was a movie about Thanos and his quest to become omnipotent.

Captain America has returned out of hiding with Black Widow and Falcon. Black Widow has been on the run since Civil War for allowing Steve to escape capture. Falcon is also wanted for his escape from General Ross custody. Captain America was later joined by War Machine , who risked being court marshalled by helping Steve protect Vision from Thanos. Bruce Banner made contact with Steve, then later joining forces with him in Wakanda. Steve and Banner was last seen together in battle against Ultron. Captain America brought his Avengers to the Black Panther and the Wakandian forces to help protect Vision and his Mind Stone. At the end of the Black Panther film, it’s revealed Bucky is being rehabilitated from his Winter Soldier programming by Shuri. Bucky’s arm was also replaced, more than likely constructed with Vibranium. Speaking of creations and assuming Shuri lived, could it be possible that she will also create an energy shield for Captain America in a similar fashion like the Border Tribe?

Thanos forces located the stone in Wankanda and began their invasion. The fight in Wakanda was an incredible battle. The Wakandian forces were over ran by the Outrider army but then the tables turned with the arrival of Thor, Groot and Rocket. Ultimately, the Avengers failed in protecting Vision as he perished along with Black Panther, Bucky, Groot, Wanda, Falcon and many others on that battlefield.

Iron Man has upgraded his armor as he does in each film. This time his armor is based upon nanotechnology just like the black panther suit. With his nanotechnology, he can create different weapons at will, which take on an extraterrestrial appearance. After the invasion in New York, its safe to assume that Tony prepared his armors to be well equipped to combat threats outside of Earth. Do you think Tony’s genius compares to Shuri? How much do you think they could do if they worked together on a particular project like his armors? Once again, Tony Stark found himself in space on a fading phone call to Pepper. This time, Tony doesn’t expect to come back, more than likely overcoming his fears to save the universe. This anxiety plagued Tony in Iron Man 3, the fact of learning that the universe has alien races that could be hostile to Earth. Even with the upgrade, Tony was no match for Thanos and found himself stranded on Titan with Nebula. Tony and Nebula was among the lucky ones who was spared from Thanos purge.

The Hulk played an interesting role, In the comic version of Infinity War, it was the Silver Surfer who crashed landed in Dr. Strange’s sanctum and warned Strange of the pending threat to Earth. Also, Thanos quest for the stones was complete, as he was just merely killing for amusement with his godlike powers. In this Avengers film, The Hulk was sent to Earth through the BiFrost by Heimdall, before he was killed. When the war on Earth began, Bruce was unable to transform into the Hulk, so Bruce was forced to use the Hulk Buster Armor. Why do you think the Hulk didn’t fight? Was he in fear of Thanos from his first defeat? Neither The Hulk or the Hulk Buster Bruce Banner was a match for Thanos. Even though badly defeated, Bruce is among the survived heroes.

SpiderMan plays the sidekick to Iron Man once again. In SpiderMan Homecoming, Tony created an iron version of Peter’s costume in hopes he would join the Avengers. Peter did decline the team membership and the iron suit, but kept the upgraded spandex costume. The Iron Spider suit made but made an explosive return in this film. Tony constructed the mechanical spider legs within the suit as seen in the comics. Much like Tony’s armor, the Iron Spider also has the ability to survive space. Peter became a part of the rescue to save Dr. Strange from a ship headed to Titan. Because of Peter’s decision to stay and fight, Tony appointed SpiderMan as an official Avenger. He fought well against Thanos and almost succeeded in removing the gauntlet from his hand. Peter fell short of his goal and perished a painless death. This put Tony in complete shock and grief because he knew Titan was a one-way ticket and a mission, he thought was too big for his apprentice.

The Guardians of the Galaxy is another great addition to Infinity War. They rescued Thor from the aftermath of Thanos onslaught. Gamora became an important piece on retrieving the Soul Stone . She knew of this so she requested StarLord to end her life when the time comes. Groot and Rocket joined Thor on his mission to kill Thanos while the rest of the Guardians formed their plan to retrieve the Reality Stone before Thanos could. Thanos was a few steps ahead of the team as he already had the stone. He later tortured Nebula to have Gamora show the location of the Soul Stone. To get the Soul Stone, Thanos must take the life of a loved one and Gamora was his choice. StarLord, Drax, Mantis and Nebula joined Tony, Spiderman and Dr. Strange on Titan to battle Thanos. The only survivors on the Titan battle was Nebula and Iron Man.

Infinity War picks up at the end of Ragnarok when the Asgardian ship is met by Thanos. Everyone aboard Thor’s ship were slaughtered, leaving Thor and Hulk sole survivors. Thor believed the only way to defeat Thanos is to create a new hammer. His hammer was constructed as StormBreaker, with the sole purpose of killing Thanos. The weapon also had the power of the BiFrost. With this combination, Thor can reach any part of the universe and realms at will. To use the Bifrost, wouldn’t Thor need the eyes of Heimdall to guide his destinations between time and space?

So, fans ask, why did producers cut this scene out the film? This would have taken place after Groot completed the hammer, then we could see Thor activate the BiFrost to arrive in Wakanda.

However, StormBreaker gave Thor immense power. Thor arrives on Wakanda to aid his Avengers, causing the opposing army to flee in fear. Thor was able to seriously injure Thanos even after the Gauntlet was complete. Could this mean that StormBreaker is stronger than the Gauntlet? Or if on the same level, could the difference in power really depended on the wielder? In the movie, Thanos retreated from the lethal blow before sending his command to rid half of the universe of life. Thor was able to stand among the survived heroes of the purge.

Loki played the Master of Mischief to the end. In Ragnorak, there was a moment where Loki catch sight of his old prize, the Tesseract. After his defeat in the Thor film, Loki allied himself with Thanos for greater power. His task was to retrieve the Cosmic Cube from Earth. Loki was severely sidetracked when collecting the Cube for Thanos but in this film, the mission comes full circle when Thanos storms the Asgardian ship looking for it. What’s also interesting about the Tesseract is that it didn’t kill the Red Skull , but teleported him to Vormir to become the keeper of the Soul Stone. Loki in his last act, tries to kill Thanos to save Thor and avenge Asgard. Thanos chokes Loki until his neck breaks. Thanos seemed aware of Loki’s ability to escape death, so he insured it wouldn’t be the case this time around. If Loki took the Casket of Ancient Winters from Asgard’s Vault at the time he took the Tesseract, could he have defeated Thanos and his forces, prevented his death and saved the Asgardian people?

Vision and Wanda’s relationship has grown since Age of Ultron. Vision has developed the technique to make his appearance more human. It could be for the reasons to blend into society when on the run and to make Wanda feel more comfortable in her feeling for an android. Since Vision has the Mind Stone integrated in his head, he could sense the impending invasion by Thanos. Vision entrusted Wanda to destroy the Mind Stone if Thanos could not be stopped. Wanda was forced to destroy the stone and as a result Vision was vaporized. This was undone seconds later by Thanos with the power of the Time Stone. Thanos pulled the Mind Stone from Vision’s forehead, causing his deactivation and Wanda dies as many others by disintegration. During the surgery, Shuri was nearly complete removing the stone from Vision. Is it possible that Shuri has done just enough to have Vision revived without the use of the Mind Stone?

Doctor Strange is an important player to this event because he was the protector of the Time Stone. He is able to fight off Thanos forces with his complex powers but later gave away the Time Stone to spare the life of Tony Stark. Some fans believed Dr. Strange gave the stone away because he explored the future where Thanos could be defeated and that future required Thanos to have the gem. The role of Dr. Strange is different on-screen then the comic book event. In the comic event, Dr. Strange didn’t engage in battle but more or less assisting Earth’s heroes from a safe location. After handing Thanos the stone in Infinity War, Strange dies without worry as if he knows he made the right decision, and it was up to Tony to pull himself together and defeat Thanos.

This film was loosely based on the comic books Infinity War and Infinity Gauntlet. In both issues, there are many more characters involved in this epic war than we seen in the film. The Black Panther was in neither comic story but made a great addition to the cinematic universe. Also in the comic books, Adam Warlock is the Guardian of the Soul Stone and he is to be the leader for Earth’s heroes against Thanos. Adam was mentioned at the ending of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, will he make an appearance in this galactic battle? In the credits scene of Infinity War, Nick Fury was seen sending a distress signal to what appears to be Captain Marvel. Will she along with Adam Warlock battle Thanos in the next film? What about the Celestials? Will the gods of the universe band together on a cosmic scale and fight Thanos as we seen in the comics? Disney has bought the rights to some Fox Marvel characters such as the X-Men. Could they make an appearance in the next film? With a lot of Earth’s population gone what will be the premise of the next movie? So, how do rate Avengers Infinity War?

Black Adam Movie Review!!!

Black Adam entered theatres with mixed reviews from movie critics, as comic fans enjoyed the film for the most part. Black Adam generated $393.5 million dollars from a budget of $230 million, categorizing this a failed project by DC Comics. Moviegoers would agree that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever could be the reason Black Adam didn’t generate more profits in its theatrical run. The success of the first Black Panther gave way for an easy win for its second film, taking away much interest in Black Adam after two weeks. Black Adam made an early digital release on November 22nd, 2022, then begins streaming on HBOMax December 16, 2022.

What do you think of Dwayne Johnson‘s portrayal of Black Adam? Dwayne expressed his desire to play Black Adam for some time, even being a part of production when Shazam was in development. In this cinematic story, Black Adam is released from his prison to become champion of Kahndaq once again, freeing the people from intergang mercenaries of the present day. Black Adam’s power is tested against Sabbac, ultimately and seemingly making Black Adam worthy of the powers originally bestowed to his son.

Black Adam and Captain Marvel are opposites sides on the same coin. In both films, The Wizards imbued young boys with the power of Shazam. Billy Batson accepted his power to protect his family and save the world from evil while Teth Adam used his power to take revenge for the death of his family. Neither character is featured in either film as a contender or ally. It’s suggested in both films that neither the Shazam Family nor Black Adam is aware of each other’s existence.

In Shazam’s deleted scene, there is one more seat in the Throne Room that is not filled. Is this seat for Black Adam? Is this the reason why Black Adam felt that taking the throne of Khandaq was wrong after defeating Sabbac? Will Black Adam and Shazam come face to face, since the possibility of battling Superman is nonexistence now that Henry Cavill will no longer be The Man of Steel?

The Justice Society of America made its intro to the cinematic world as the team to take down Black Adam. Ethnic background changes seem to be the norm now in comic films such with Hawkman, Cyclone, DeadShot, Human Torch and Heimdall just to name a few. What bothered comic fans was the death of Dr. Fate. Why would writers change Dr. Fate from being an immortal hero to becoming vulnerable? In the comics and television series, The Justice Society and Justice League works together to battle global and universal threats. Do you think we will see such union in future films? Will The Rock make his return as the champion of Khandaq or is this the end for the antihero? Leave your comments below, give us your take on Black Adam!
